Springpack Celebrates 2-Years of Carbon Neutrality

Here at Springpack, we are committed to the protection of our planet.

Back in September 2021, we made our pledge to be Carbon Neutral by 2023. Amazingly, we achieved this goal by June 2022, and we have renewed it again in 2023!

Maintaining our carbon-neutral certification is something all of us here at Springpack are incredibly proud of.

What does Carbon Neutral mean?

Becoming carbon neutral is the act of balancing the amount of CO2 that everyday activities release into the atmosphere.

An integral part of our Company Vision, being Carbon Neutral gives us pride in what we do and sets our service apart from our competitors. To us, Carbon Neutrality gives us pride and integrity. It builds trust with our partner companies, that we are always going to provide them with a sustainable option. Being Carbon Neutral shows that we truly care about the world around us and is our promise to a greener future for all.

Approved by 197 nations, the Paris Climate Agreement was agreed in 2015 to hold the global warming temperature below 2 °C. In 2022, it was shown that the surface temperature had already risen by 0.86 °. Whilst this may seem like a small rise in temperature, it is paving the way for a catastrophic climate disaster.

We have acted and will continue to take action to remove our impact on the climate crisis.

How did Springpack achieve Carbon Neutrality?

We did this in a number of ways. The biggest change we made is switching to environmentally friendly suppliers wherever possible, to ensure the lowest carbon footprint of our products.

Our vehicle fleet has also been overhauled, with new hybrid and fully electric cars being introduced. Van Halen is our newest delivery van in the fleet, and is contributing to our reduced carbon emissions for our deliveries by using half the fuel per metre squared as her predecessor.

We have launched a Bike2Work Scheme, which encouraged our employees to ditch the car and ride to work instead!

When we asked our Creative and Social Media Executive, Roshan, for her thoughts on the scheme, she said “The Cycle2Work scheme is great, it helps me keep fit, gives me a boost of energy for the day, and reduces my carbon footprint.”

We have moved to a new state-of-the-art facility that has been optimised for energy efficiency. The larger storage facility also means all products are housed under one roof, reducing the amount of travel needed.

We are actively working to encourage our customers to consolidate their orders and reduce delivery emissions, and we offer incentives to do so.

For all unavoidable carbon emissions, we have partnered with Carbon Neutral Britain to carbon offset.

We are Ecovadis Silver and FSC certified, and we are working to become B-Corp certified.

To benefit our local community, we have invested in a defibrillator that can be accessed by members of the public in the local area.

We have donated trees to the local community, such as the Chase School’s Eco-Club, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Our customers have been offered wildflower seeds to help restore natural spaces across the UK.

As a part of our Wellbeing Wednesdays, we have been litter-picking in the local area.

Climate action is the only way we can protect our planet – every business and individual has a part to play.
