Preparing for Black Friday and Cyber Monday

The biggest retail period for Christmas shopping is of course Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which this year fall on the 25th and 28th of November. And we predict shoppers will most likely be continuing the trend of online shopping.

So, what is Black Friday and Cyber Monday?

Black Friday originates in the USA and refers to the Friday following Thanksgiving. As this Friday is viewed as an unofficial holiday in the US and the start of the festive season, many businesses drop their prices for this day.

Black Friday has since evolved to not only last longer than just one day, but has also been adopted by the UK. Many retailers and businesses in the UK now begin their Black Friday/pre-Christmas sales as early as October. The event then finishes on the following Monday, known as Cyber Monday, where prices are slashed again.

How to prepare your packaging process for Black Friday and Cyber Monday

The last three months of the year tend to be the busiest for many retailers and businesses. With hundreds of orders flooding in to secure Black Friday deals and get goods delivered in time for Christmas, it’s important to ensure your packaging process can keep up!

Don’t worry, you’ve still got time to get on top of your packaging operation and get the right protective packaging in place, ready to tackle the busiest time of the year. These are our top tips for being Black Friday ready.

Organisation is key to the smooth running of operations during the festive season

Pay particular attention to what products you are running low on well in advance – carry out accurate stock checks. You should ensure that you don’t run out of any essential packaging products that could delay you sending out deliveries. Forward planning is vital, so make sure that you’ve stocked up for the January sales too!

Stock up on protective packaging well in advance of Black Friday

Bear in mind you may have products that require specialist packaging solutions. Protective packaging is a must have for any ecommerce company! Place orders well in advance so it arrives in time for all those Black Friday orders.

Ensure your customers have a positive experience with your company

There are many parts of the delivery journey where packages can be damaged or misplaced. By ensuring that your packaging is not only clearly labelled but also that your product is well protected, you’ll give your customers the confidence to shop with you again.

Don’t just meet customer expectations – exceed them!

This is a time where you may be attracting first time customers, so retention is key. Don’t just meet their expectations by sending their product on time and intact. Why not show them that you have used the best protective packaging available. Busy sales periods like this is your chance to convert one-time buyers into long-term customers – don’t cut corners.

Treat Black Friday as a trial run for Christmas and the January sales

Learn from your experiences during your Black Friday event. Was there a pattern of the same products arriving damaged? If so, you need to re-evaluate your packaging solutions for that product. Did a particular product fly off the shelves? If so, make sure you’re covered for Christmas! And if something disappointed – is it a candidate for the January sales?
