Update: UK Plastic Packaging Tax Rate Increase from 1st April

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping you informed about industry developments and regulatory changes, we’d like to draw your attention to an important update regarding the UK Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) rate.

Effective from April 1st, 2024, the UK government has implemented a significant increase in the PPT rate. The new rate now stands at £200 per metric tonne of chargeable plastic packaging components. This rate applies to all plastic packaging components manufactured in, or imported into, the United Kingdom on or after the 1st of April 2024.

This increase in the PPT rate reflects the government’s continued efforts to address environmental concerns surrounding plastic waste and promote sustainable packaging alternatives. As a responsible packaging solutions provider, Springpack fully supports these initiatives and remains committed to offering environmentally friendly options to our customers.

We understand that navigating regulatory changes can be challenging, which is why our team at Springpack is here to assist you every step of the way. Whether you’re seeking advice on sustainable packaging alternatives, looking to optimize your packaging processes, or simply need clarification on how the PPT rate increase may impact your operations, we’re here to help.
