The Best Packaging For Pokémon Cards

In recent years, Pokémon cards have evolved from playground nostalgia to desirable commodities among collectors. With prices fluctuating based on the condition of the card, rare cards in good condition can be worth a lot of money – such as this PSA Graded 10 Illustrator Pikachu which sold for over $5,000,000!

Pokémon Packaging:

When selling Pokémon Trading Cards, Booster packs, or just about anything Pokemon TCG related online, damages in transit can be a real worry. Your Pokemon packaging needs to be on point! Edge damages or card creases can really decrease the value of your beloved card.

Why is it important to securely package your Pokemon Cards?

The Pokemon Trading Card Game is popular across all ages, many people have a collection of Pokemon Cards based on rarity, valuable cards, if the card is a holo, or the images featured on the cards. It is important to package your cards safely, as your customers will be unhappy if they receive a damaged card or booster box.

How to post Pokémon Cards:

Keeping Team Rocket away – the Springpack Packaging Experts! Our team of experts has created the ultimate guide to package your Pokémon cards for shipping.

Step One

Pokemon Card in sleeve

Safely place your card in a Card Sleeve (AKA Penny Sleeve) and/or a Toploader. For this example, we are using a card sleeve only. You can pick up Toploaders and Penny Sleeves from your local trading card store in many different sizes, or online. If you are shipping an individual booster pack or deck, protectors are available for these too.

Using a card sleeve is important, as it will protect the artwork on your card from getting damaged in transit, storage or whilst playing. Whether you are shipping a common card, a promo card or an ultra rare reverse holo, collectors or players alike will all appreciate a well packaged pokemon card.

Step Two

If you are not using a Toploader, or just want extra protection, you can sandwich your card between two sheets of cardboard or corrugated paper like we did here. Using cardboard not only keeps your packaging as plastic free as possible, it improves the structural rigidity of the cards – reducing the likelihood of it creased, damaged or dented in transit.

Step Three

Assemble your postal box. There are many types of postal box that can be used to ship your Pokemon cards. For this example, we are using a Small Returnable Postal Box, though you could also use a Letter Mailer or Expandelope.

Springpack’s Postal Plus returnable Postal Boxes are a great choice for many types of e-commerce companies. They have a crash-lock base, and two adhesive strips. These features allow the box to be assembled and sealed in seconds, without the need for tape.

Even better, they feature a tear strip for the end user, to improve the unboxing experience. Returnable postal boxes are designed to be reused using their second adhesive strip, making them a great sustainable packaging option.

Step Four

Line the box with a protective, impact absorbing material, such as Honeycomb Paper. Honeycomb paper is a brilliant eco friendly protective packaging solution.

Ensure the void fill material does not complyetely fill the box and place the card on top of the protective material.

Step Five

To ensure the Pokemon Card or Pokemon Booster pack cannot move around in the box, or get damaged from external forces, place a second later of protective packaging material over the top.

Step Six

Seal the box using the Peel-and-Seal strip. For the box to be reusable, make sure you only seal with the top strip.
